The Foreign Languages Department allows students to explore 2 new languages and cultures.
French is taught from PreK to IB, with a standard program for those who wish to learn it through a traditional path. As for Spanish, students can start in Grade 3 and continue through to IB, offering them an opportunity to engage with a different language and culture.
However, the French immersion program stands out from the standard program. It integrates academic subjects, especially History, Geography, and civics, taught in French, providing students with a unique learning experience. This program is distinguished by its curriculum, specialized teachers, and tailored activities, allowing students to gain a deeper mastery of the language while discovering a rich culture.
TGS Wadi has embraced the challenge of integrating French learning from Grade 3 to Grade 5 through a renowned immersion program, certified FrancEducation in 2018. This approach combines language acquisition with social sciences (history, geography, and civic education), allowing students to strengthen their French skills while expanding their knowledge in these subjects.
The French immersion program differs from the standard curriculum through its dynamic and engaging approach. Students learn French effortlessly, often without even realizing it, thanks to activities such as CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning).
To support this program, TGS-Wadi has started a recruitment campaign to add qualified French teachers from French-speaking countries to its staff. Teachers with experience in immersion programs are especially needed to create a true and immersive learning environment for students.
